19 May 2021 - What is the Runner's High
Exercise is known to have a positive effect
on mental health, with active people less likely to experience depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. Along with its positive influence on long-term behaviour, exercise has also been associated with immediate feel-good vibes. If you're an enthusiastic jogger, you may have experienced the famous runner's high. Marked by feelings of euphoria, this natural high has
long been attributed to endorphins. According to a recent study, however, endogenous cannabinoids may actually be responsible.
14 May 2021 - Property Growth at 30 Year High
Property growth reaches a long-term high in Australia, with national housing prices achieving their fastest pace in over 32 years. As the nation recovers from 2020 and gets comfortable with its new isolated place in the world, more people are looking to lock down a piece of property. Investors have returned to the market, first-home owners are struggling to get a foot in the door, and confidence is on a roller coaster ride as the market attempts to predict the future.
10 May 2021 - Budget Breakdown
The 2021 Federal Budget has been released, and as the second budget to be handed down since COVID-19, it's far from typical. Many of the central elements of the budget are a direct response to the pandemic, as the government tackles a new world and tries to identify Australia's place in it. Health and aged care are front-and-centre, with significant sums of money also going to mental health, women's safety, and
education among other sectors. Despite gross debt expected to reach above $1 trillion for the first time by 2025, spending is rife and low-and middle-income-earner tax cuts will continue.
7 May 2021 - Mars Gets Busy
Mars is getting crowded, with a number of
separate space agencies reaching the Red Planet in recent weeks. Three new probes from three countries arrived in February, with NASA and China both touching down on the surface in recent days. While only the US, Russia, and China have touched down on Mars so far, other nations have achieved orbit. There are currently six space agencies orbiting Mars: the USA, Europe, Russia,
China, India, and the United Arab Emirates. While it's far from a traffic jam, more crowded Martian skies could be a sign of things to come.
3 May 2021 - Home Schooling Boom
COVID-19 has changed many things, from our social and recreational habits to the way we work and study. During the height of the pandemic and lockdown response in 2020, remote working and learning became a reality for millions of people across the globe. Parents and school children of all ages experienced remote learning for the first time, and some of them liked what they saw. While most people were happy to send their kids back to the classroom, the number of children officially enrolled in home schooling programs continues to grow.
